What is Bill Audits?

Bill Audits is an automated tool that scans your electricity bills for potential issues that can significantly impact your overall spending. By using Bill Audits, you can stay ahead of any discrepancies and ensure your bills are accurate and fair.

Bill Audits scans for four key elements that impact your bill

Supplier Changes 

Imagine this: one month, your electricity bill is from the supplier you signed a contract with, at the agreed price. But the next month, you're hit with a bill showing much higher rates from a supplier you don’t recognize. This practice is a scam called slamming, and it’s much more common than most people realize. It happens without your consent and can cost you dearly. Bill Audits automatically flags any supplier changes as soon as they happen so you can verify or deny them, protecting you from these unauthorized switches.

Rate Class Changes

The rate you pay and how your demand is measured are based on your rate class. Demand charges can significantly increase your bill, especially if a sudden surge bumps you up to a higher rate class. Bill Audits identifies and flags any rate class changes, allowing you to investigate whether these changes are expected or if they might be due to misclassification.

Bill Audits technology continuously scans each bill for the potential problems mentioned above. When an issue is detected, you receive an instant email alert and can view the issue in your list of bills in the Energy Spending section of our platform.

If Bill Audits flags an issue, addressing it is simple:

  • Email: Click the "Help me investigate" button in the alert email. Our team will reach out to support you.
  • Platform: Go to the Energy Spending section, select the flagged issue, and click "Please investigate." Our team will follow up to help you resolve the problem.

We’re launching Bill Audits with four of the most common issues that impact energy spending. Looking forward, we’ll continue to add alerts to bill audits for additional items that could cause overspending, as well as improve your options for addressing and resolving issues that we discover.
